I have two main inspirstions that inspired me to create a new Childrens Art television programme. The first is CITV's (now Disney Junior's) Art Attack. I found Art Attack very inspirational as it seems when ever a person of my generation mentions an art based childrens show this is the first one that comes to mind, along with it orginal presenter Niel Buchanan. Art Attack has not only helped inspire me on the structure of an art show and what crafts children enjoy making, but also through its use of studio set.

As well as this Art Attack has also inspired many segments to the show. For example, like Art Attack I will also be contacting local schools asking the children to send in art work that they have done at home that will feature in the art gallery section of my show. However, to try and set myself apart from other art shows i am considering inviting primary school students onto the show and asking them to discus their art work with the presenter in a 'Show and Tell' fashion.
My other inspirational programme is CBBC's SMart. I found this inspirational due to there ability to apeal to a wider target audience as well as using a animated character to represent the show (Morph). However, this being said i do not feel that changing the show from a 25 minute programme to an hour long show as SMart did would be ideal for my show as my research has shown that my target audience's attention span would not focus on the programme for that amount of time.

I really like the idea of having a comedic character to represent the show as I feel that it will not only help to draw in the audience, but it will also help to give a break between each craft adding a breathing space for the audience to take in what they have just learnt.
CBBC's Blue Peter has also been quite inspirational, as they also contain a 'make and do' segment within their programme. With in the segment I became aware of how they explained each step in a clear precise manor making it easy for children to follow and understand. As well as this i will also be using the 'Here's one I made earlier' technique in order to save time and give a clear example of what the finished product should look like.
From studying these childrens programmes I have been highly inspired on how to construct my own childrens television programme. however, this being said it is also highly important that my own show stands out in comparison to other shows in order to make my show more original. As I stated earlier, one way I will be making my show original will be by having viewers onto the show to showcase their art and explain how they made them, then they will all receive an artist of the week award.

Vision On
"Vision On" ran here in the UK from 1964 to 1976 on BBC 1 (after taking over from "For Deaf Children") usually on Weds or Thurs around 4.00pm on British Television. Made at BBC Bristol, it was broadcast in many other countries throughout the world, most notably Canada (Welcome to those browsing from outside the UK!!!) and France. More Canadian Childrens TV ." - BBC's Vision on, produced by Patrick Dowling
- Aimed at both non-hearing and hearing children.
- Presented by Tony Hart, Pat Keysell, Sylvester McCoy
Rolf Harris Cartoon Time
- BBC
- Produced by David Platt
- Presented by Rolf Harris
Even this show showcases Rolf Harris drawing it does not teach children how to join. however, I really like the way in which it is presented. This is because it is clear for the children to understand and is also done in a 'storytelling' fashion.
